Three Suspicious Ex-Felons Arrested In Downtown Nevada City

Three Camptonville felons were arrested in Nevada City after police discovered a stolen firearm, drugs, and burglary evidence during a suspicious activity investigation.
Three people from the Camptonville area created some excitement in downtown Nevada City for police Wednesday afternoon. Lieutenant Sean Mason says an officer had responded to a report of 42-year-old Carli Grandell, 36-year-old Joshua Whitman, and 32-year-old Christian Ponce being engaged in some suspicious behavior near the SPD Market on Zion Street. That included looking inside parked vehicles…
Mason says a search of the vehicle turned up drug paraphernalia and a firearm underneath a seat. He says there was warrant out for Ponce on suspicion of burglary in Grass Valley as well as a prior theft, which may have been the firearm. Grandell was also found with a small user amount of methamphetamine. And since the three were all convicted felons, Ponce and Whitman ended up being booked on eight felony charges each, with Grandell booked on five felonies…
